If a picture as it is said is worth a thousand words then Pablo Picasso's 3.49 × 7.76 m famous Gurenica is worth much more...
The small Basque town of Guernica was left in ruins after an aerial attack by the German Luftwaffe in which hundreds of innocent people were killed. This Painting was Pablo Picasso's reaction to the senselessness of this raid.
The Spanish diminutive for ''bomb'' is ''bombilla'' which strangely enough is also the name for the ''light bulb.''
Upon a closer look in the painting one will notice that ''the bombilla'' is the only modern technological artifact depicted in the piece. The light bulb or ''the bombilla'' symbolizes the power of technology to destroy whilst also illuminating the full horrors of war.
